Mr. Schlactus has been the CEO of Hope Orthopedics and Willamette Surgery Center for over ten years. The orthopedic practice includes 15 surgeons and 9 Physician Assistants, MRI, DEXA Scanner, physical and occupational (hand) therapy, a brace shop, a PACS system, DR and CR radiology, and is attached to the community-wide EMR system. The surgery center is a multi-specialty center which includes orthopedics, neurosurgery, podiatry and general surgery. Mr. Schlactus has over 30 years of experience in healthcare, all in management positions. He has worked in hospitals, long term care and medical group management.
In addition to running an orthopedic group, he currently serves on the Board of the Oregon ASC Association and is the Chair of their Government Relations (Lobbying) Committee. He has spoken at numerous national and local conventions.
He is married and has three grown children. He and his wife live in the country outside of Portland, Oregon with 5 sheep, 8 chickens, and one very crazy golden retriever.

Ms. Sack is Executive Director for Midwest Orthopaedics, P.A., a practice over 40 years old in suburban Kansas City. The practice has four general orthopaedic surgeons, one foot and ankle surgeon and two PA’s. She has been with the practice since January of 2004, having previously worked in geriatric primary care in a hospital-owned practice and an academic medical center program.
Ms. Sack has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration, as well as a Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) certified with the American College of Medical Practice Executives. She has worked in healthcare for over 25 years as an administrator since 1992. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Kansas City Medical Manager’s Association and 2008-2009 President of Midwest AAOE. Ms. Sack has been a presenter at the AAOE Annual Conferences, the AAOS Practice Management Symposium, MGMA, the AOFAS Annual Summer Meeting, and other medical association meetings. In addition, she serves on the Faculty of the University of Florida Executive Education program for Physician Practice Management and Integration.

Mary O’Brien is the Chief Executive Officer for Fox Valley Orthopaedic Institute in Geneva, Illinois. Mary received her MBA in healthcare and financial management from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and has been employed with her current group since 1985. Fox Valley Orthopaedic Institute includes 12 orthopedic surgeons, 8 physician assistants, physical and occupational therapy, one MRI suite, and an Ambulatory Surgery Center. Additional real estate holdings include two properties totally 66,000 square feet.
Ms. O'Brien has been a member since 1988 and has served on the education committee and the Phoenix and Chicago task forces. She is also certified by the American College of Medical Practice Executives. Other volunteer activities include Rotary International and a local social services board. Recreational activities include SCUBA diving, golf, travel and photography.

Since 1999, Mr. Schreiner has served as the CEO for the Rockford Orthopedic Associates, Ltd., (ROA) a 22-physician multi-specialty clinic located in North Central Illinois with over 240 employees. During this period, he has overseen the addition of 16 physicians, physical therapy, 2 MRIs, DME services, outpatient surgery center, clinical research department, 13 PA’s at 4 locations and has fully implemented EMR and PAC Systems since 2006. He is responsible for all aspects of the clinic and surgery center operations. Prior to this position, Mr. Schreiner was a managed care executive for 18 years, for John Deere Health, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and two large regional health systems. His experience covers all aspects of development, marketing and operations with extensive experience in managed care pricing, and contracting. Mr. Schreiner has been a member of AAOE since 1999 and has been a presenter at the AAOE Annual Conferences, the AAOS Practice Management Symposium, and other medical association meetings.

He has spent over 20 years in healthcare leadership positions including 9 years of active duty in the US Army Medical Service Corps. He has a varied background including serving in field medical positions, hospital administration, integrated health systems, multi-specialty group practice, surgery centers and imaging centers. His expertise in strategic planning, managed care negotiations, business development and finance have resulted in very successful organizations and many accolades.
Mr. Trantow was tapped as an upcoming leader in 1989 when he received the US Army Medical Service Corps, “Outstanding Junior Officer Award” and in 1990 he received a scholarship to attend the prestigious US Army-Baylor University MHA Program. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, certified by the American College of Medical Practice Executives and a member of Colorado AAOE.
His commitment to service translates to participation on several boards/committees including the Aspen Sports Medicine Foundation, Community Health Plan of the Roaring Fork Valley, Midvalley Trails of Eagle County, and Town of Basalt Open Space, Trails and Parks.

Patricia L. Brewster is the Chief Executive Officer of Southern Orthopaedic Specialists, LLC. She has over 25 years of experience in executive health-care management. Her expertise in strategic management and team-building, combined with her strong communication skills, has resulted in visionary leadership and strong operational and financial performance.
Ms. Brewster’s executive management experience, including her previous position as Chief Administrative Officer of the Hughston Clinic, highlights her ability to balance administrative responsibilities and regulatory compliance with the development of proactive and creative business plans, such as her implementation of Comprehensive Program for Musculoskeletal Care.
Ms. Brewster’s healthcare philosophy emphasizes service as the centerpiece of the organization, with a reliance on servant leadership. In 2008 she was awarded the Harry J. Harwick Lifetime Achievement Award from MGMA & ACMPE for her contributions to the field of Healthcare management and education. Her article, "Servant Leadership... Ms. Crowder is currently the Administrator for St. Charles Orthopedic Surgery Associates (SCOSA) located in St. Charles Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. During the 10 years at SCOSA Ms. Crowder has also started a billing and management company along with her physicians providing coding, billing and collection services to ASC's and physicians offices. Prior to joining SCOSA Ms. Crowder worked for Signature Health Services in St. Louis.
Ms. Crowder received her undergraduate degree in Health Management and her MBA from Lindenwood University in St. Charles Missouri. She is a Certified Medical Practice Executive through the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE) and and active member of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). She is also an active member in the Midwest AAOE and the St. Louis MGMA where she has previous served as President. She has been a member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE) since 1990 and has served on the Education and Membership Committees.
Ms. Crowder is a proud mother of three children between 9 and 17 years old. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her children in their sports and other activities. In addition, she volunteers as a case worker for the St. Vincent DePaul Society of her parish church. As a case worker, she assists members of her community in need of food, social and financial assistance.

Jim P. Kidd

Mr. Kidd is currently the Executive Director of St. Peters Bone & Joint Surgery, Inc. The practice has 5 physicians, 1 mid-level provider, and one location in St. Charles County, Missouri. He has been on the online faculty of the University of Phoenix since 2002 and instructs classes in both the MBA and MHA programs. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and a candidate for certification in the American College of Medical Practice Executives. He has been a member of the AAOE since 2006 and was recently elected as President of the newly created Virginia Association of Orthopaedic Executives. Marsha Pinat, CMPE

Mr. Pupkis was a consultant for 10 years helping several hundred clients in nine states with virtually every aspect of the business of medicine. He was an adjunct professor for five years at the University of New England. Mr. Pupkis was the Executive Director of a PHO and IPA in Winston-Salem, North Carolina serving counties with over 100,000 lives in global capitation. He is Past-President and founder of NYS Bones, Inc. Mr. Pupkis satisfied the examination and continuing education requirements for American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE) certification and was granted the status as Certified Member in 1995.
