AAOE Launches New Compliance Symposium Before Annual Capitol Hill Day

News & Press,

INDIANAPOLIS, IN–The American Alliance of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE), in partnership with DoctorsManagement, announces the launch of its first ever Compliance Symposium to take place the day before its annual Capitol Hill Day. Practice executives, their staff, and physicians will join forces in our nation’s capital for two days of education and advocacy.

Monday, September 9, AAOE will host a one-day symposium in covering top healthcare compliance issues with sessions led by prominent regulatory and health law experts.

"We're excited to be part of AAOE's first-ever Compliance Symposium," said Sean Weiss, Partner and Vice President of Compliance for DoctorsManagement. "It's a perfect format for delivering essential information to orthopedic practice executives so that they can tackle today’s top compliance issues the following day as they head to Capitol Hill to meet with Members of Congress. They will be well prepared to discuss top issues impacting orthopedic practices.”

Compliance Symposium Schedule

The symposium will focus on updates to the rules governing the Medicare program including:

  • Incident-to billing.
  • Value-based reimbursement.
  • Physical therapist MIPS reporting.
  • Celebrity comedian Robert Mac’s Game Changer session will provide attendees with actionable strategies to reduce stress and increase productivity when managing compliance issues.

Cost: early-bird registration of $249 is available through August 15

Capitol Hill Day

Tuesday, September 10, attendees head to Capitol Hill to meet with Members of Congress and their staff to discuss the importance and value of the orthopedic community. Orthopedic practice executives and physicians from across the country will meet with their elected officials and federal staffers to share the opportunities and challenges they face in their practice, addressing important topics such as:

  • Increased DXA reimbursements in a physician office.
  • Delaying Medicare’s upcoming Appropriate Use Criteria Program.
  • Preserving the ability of providers to negotiate and contract with insurers.
  • Real time Medicare Advantage prior authorizations.

Prior advocacy experience is not required for participation in Capitol Hill Day. AAOE will provide participants with talking points, training, and will arrange all appointments with Congressional members and staff. Capitol Hill Day is free to attend.

“We’re proud that we are able to offer our members an opportunity like the combined Compliance Symposium and Capitol Hill Day,” says Kitchi Joyce, 2019-2020 AAOE President and Chief Administrative Officer of IntraHealth Group/OrthoAtlanta. “This offering unites two of our top goals, to set the standard of industry knowledge and be the voice of orthopedic practice professionals in Washington, DC.”

Separate and combined registration is available for each event. Learn more at aaoe.net/2019DC.
