Sharing Opinions & Making An Impact on Healthcare Through Advocacy Work with Alissa Ashley-High

Government Affairs News,

As a Practice Administrator for a small independent orthopaedic practice, I often felt like my voice went unheard. But as a vital member of a passionate and dedicated team, I realized the power of advocacy. Through the AAOE Advocacy Council, I have learned I am important.  By speaking up and promoting the value of independent practices, we can help ensure that patients receive personalized care that is tailored to their unique needs. Together, we can amplify our voices and make a difference in the healthcare industry.

I always felt helpless to make a meaningful impact on healthcare, despite recognizing areas that needed improvement.  Large hospital systems and organizations can lobby for change. What difference could I make? I know my small practice is critical for my community, and keeping it alive and thriving is important.

The AAOE Advocacy Council empowered me to advance my opinions through a strong network of administrators working with lobbyists and national organizations. I have the opportunity to advocate for my practice and community on local and federal levels.  I attend monthly committee meetings to brainstorm ideas and participate in weekly conversations with state representatives to ensure the voting majority understands the impact of passed laws and regulations.

Thanks to the AAOE Advocacy Council, I'm not just one Practice Administrator with an opinion. I am now part of a team with the power to impact not only my private independent practice but also healthcare for the nation.
