Fierce Feedback and Tough Love

News & Press,

People bring their entire personality to work with them- as they should- but some behaviors are inappropriate for a group work setting or in customer/patient/client interactions. Establishing clear expectations and holding employees accountable is an ongoing necessity.

What are some of the toughest conversations you have had as a leader? Have you ever felt dread or uneasiness about a “confrontation” you need to have with an employee? What if you could reframe the confrontation as feedback? What if you recognized the word “fierce” as  positive- meaning exceptional quality, bold, and unforgettable?

When leading others, communication is key to a healthy culture. Communicating about tough issues requires clarity and bravery, but is required. Speaking with honesty in a timely manner is the most fair and kind way to lead. At the AAOE 2023 conference, I will present a session titled, “Fierce Feedback and Tough Love” where stories and examples will inform you about how to prevent surprises for employees, and how to enlighten employees to areas where they may be missing self-awareness.

To be more at ease planning and conducting all kinds of conversations with employees, or if you are challenged by mediating disagreements between coworkers, this is an opportunity to increase trust and success while building relationships and retaining employees.
