Karen Sollar Wins 2024 AAOE Lifetime Achievement Award

Karen has been a member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE) since 1990 serving in various capacities including President: 2018-2019; Board of Directors, 2014-2017; Annual Conference Chair, 2011-2014; and National Education Committee, 2009. She received the Outstanding Chairperson award for the AAOE Annual Conference Committee 2014 and Leadership Award 2021.  


Her Community Assessment Resulted in office expansion in two additional regions and helped her group (Webster Orthopaedics) grow from 13 to 22 physicians. She facilitated administrative and operational aspects associated with opening a physician-owned surgery center, including a space plan and design and serving on the Executive board. She maintained collections to achieve 90% of accounts receivable within 120 days. She implemented Ancillary revenue centers, including ASC, MRI, Physical Therapy, and DME, enhancing revenues by 18%.  She was integral in the merger of three Regional Orthopaedic Practices in San Francisco. 


Karen is willing to mentor and share her knowledge gained from years of experience and continued learning with the members in AAOE. While she maintains the strong relationships she has built with her peers over the years, her down to earth personality and excellent communication skills allow younger administrators to be at ease in her company and be willing to interact with her.
